In order to market your property, you will still need an Energy Performance Certificate. This home energy assessment will provide you with a report measuring the impact on the environment and overall efficiency of your property together with a list of recommended energy saving improvements.

Nearly 40 per cent of the UK's energy consumption arises from the way in which our 25 million buildings are lit, heated and used. Even comparatively minor changes in energy performance and the way we use each building will have a significant effect in reducing energy consumption - and therefore carbon emissions.

The Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is part of these new measures to improve property efficiency. It will include suggestions to enable homeowners to improve the energy efficiency of the building. This can mean lower energy bills for the occupiers, and could make homes more attractive to potential buyers and/or tenants. Certificates are valid for 10 years.
